Collection
The Treasury is considered to be one of the most important historical sites in Maastricht.
The origins of the collection go back to Servatius’ relocation of the holy relics from Tongeren to Maastricht in the 4th century. Since then, the Treasury has been expanded with real masterpieces, devotional items, liturgical objects and other works of art.
The two main reliquaries of Saint Servatius, his shrine and his bust, are considered to be the highlights of the Treasury. Visitors will also see the objects once owned by Servatius, various other reliquaries, a special collection of fabrics and liturgical objects made of precious metals and gemstones.
