Open Monument Days 2024
Visit the east crypt of Saint Servatius Basilica
The 11th-century east crypt is one of the oldest parts of the basilica, but normally not freely accessible to visitors. For several decades, the crypt has been set up as a so-called lapidarium: a room in which a collection of stones has been gathered. (Lapis is Latin for stone.) The stones on display in the crypt date from all periods of the church's building history, and even before that.
